Before we program and compete in a Robot Football competition we must review the wiring of our robots. We will be wiring our robots daily during this challenge, and there will be a short quiz reviewing robot wiring at the end. In order to prepare for this challenge view the wiring video by clicking the "Robot Wiring Video" button below.
Each team of 3 robots lines up on their line of the playing field.
The Football must be placed in the middle of the center line.
The referee will say GO to allow the robots to move. The first robot to grab the football must run it to the endzone to score a 7 point touchdown.
If the robots block the robot with the ball that robot has 5 seconds to get away. When 5 seconds pass this counts as the first “down” and all bots, but the “ball bot”, returns to their side.
The referee will say GO, and play will continue.
Once a touchdown is scored all bots return to their side, and the ball is returned to the center.
If no touchdown is scored by the fourth “down” all bots return to their side, and the ball is returned to the center.
If the ball bot moves out of bounds this will count as a “down”, but the ball bot is simply placed back on the playing field where it went out.
If the ball bot drops the ball it may be picked up by another bot including a bot from the other team. If a bot from the other team intercepts the ball play continues with the other team possessing the ball.
The team that scores the most touchdowns before the 5 minute timer goes off wins the game.
If the game is tied at 5 minutes play continues into overtime until another touchdown is scored.
Robot tackling leading to robot unwiring and dissassembly is allowed and encouraged, Robots may be repaired at the end of each down.
